1. The positive
---------------
* Excellent screen size and resolution
* Versatile (can play numerous video and audio formats, plenty of inpus: SD card, USB, DVD/CD, Bluetooth, auxilary)
* The USB input works flawlessly, recognizing the files fairly quickly
* The LCD has 3 different tilt levels for better viewing angles, and various brightness settings
* Looks and feels well-built / solid
* Auxilary input in the front (3.5") allows for easy connecting of MP3 players / cell phones (particularly useful since the Bluetooth is worthless on this device, per below)
* Comes with a small remote

2. The negative
---------------
(1) The Bluetooth: Drops out all the time, listening to Pandora or other streaming radio through the cell phone impossible. The sound quality with the included microphone is mediocre at best.Have not tried to pair the Bluetooth with a laptop or a device with a more powerful Bluetooth signal than a cell phone, but again, I don't plan on using a laptop while driving.Hence, the Bluetooth is worthless in my opinion.

(2) For some reason, after few hours of continuous watching, the movies running off the USB start 'skipping', which can get very obnoxious.Thankfully, this only happens occasionally, and it may have something to do with overheating of components while driving in a hot summer day, even though the device has a cooling fan in the back.

(3) In addition to the $25 for the wire harness, a $15 antenna harness is required ($40 at worstbuy; I was quoted $60+ elsewhere). The radio is not HD/digital and the reception quality is noticingly worse than my stock stereo.

(4) The SD card input is very slow, taking 1-2 minutes to "load up" the list of songs on a 4GB card. The recognition is much faster with a high quality SD card with smaller capacity (i.e. 2GB Sandisk ultra/extreme).

(3) The cooling fan can be loud, and the LCD brightness is not adequate for bright, sunny days. The movies are still watchable with the screen tilted down, but much is washed out.

(6) The remote must be directly pointed at the IR sensor to work, and the layout is not very user friendly / intuitive

SUMMARY
-------
Overall, it's far from a perfect device, but comparing its price to some bigger names (which I'm guessing are no better in addressing the issues I mentioned earlier), and the amount of joy it provides on loooong cross-country drives, this system is well worth it...

I needed a radio to control my 2nd gen Ipod Touch and my Samsung Blackjack via bluetooth, and this radio does both and provides excellent sound quality in a sleek looking package with intuitive controls.Installing was a breeze (my previous radio was a Sony so I did not have to install the wiring harness).Ipod controls sort your music by album, artist, genre, etc. on the radio display. Not something you want to do while driving, but navigating to another song or album at a stop light is a breeze. After connecting the phone via bluetooth, answering was simple.Just push a button.I purchased the external microphoneSony XAMC10 External Mic for BT (Black) as well as the radio so I can't speak to the internal mic's quality, but with the external mic I had no ptoblems.Includes a remote with the simpler functions on it.This radio also controls my Sony disc changer I have been using since the 90's.I've always loved Sony products, and this radio just supports my choice in equipment.Great price too; Sony lists this unit for $199.Only con so far is no built-in HD radio tuner, but until that tech takes off I wouldn't worry about it.

Here is Sony's page for this radio:

Kenwood KDC-MP145 In-Dash CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with Aux Input Review

Kenwood KDC-MP145 In-Dash CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with Aux Input
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first one i ordered was apparently defective as it kept shutting off at random times while I was driving and would not turn back on until I uninstalled it, unplugged the harness and reinstalled it. I did this 3 times and finally returned it. Amazon immediately sent out a replacement and took the defective unit back. The new one is working great. Excellent replacement for the stock radio in the car. The only complaint I have, and for me it is very minor, is that to adjust audio controls and the like, you have to navigate through a menu. Its not the worst when you learn how to use it, but it can be a bit annoying especially while you are driving.

Dual XHD6425 4X50 Watt Bluetooth-Ready HD Radio and MP3 Player Review

Dual XHD6425 4X50 Watt Bluetooth-Ready HD Radio and MP3 Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like most other reviewers I have been extremely impressed with what I got for the money.I purchased the XHD6425 and the Bluetooth add-on.They were installed in my 2000 Ford Explorer about a month ago.I didn't want to write a review until I had some time to work with the unit and see its positives and negatives.

The positives are well known, HD radio, inexpensive bluetooth option, available USB port and a 3.5mm aux jack.So lets go over the issues, both good and bad, for each.

HD Radio - Very nice.I won't lie, I didn't know what to expect.I normally get excellent reception here in NYC.So was I knocked out by the sound quality? No, not especially. But it *IS* better. It's also nice to see the second and sometimes third HD feed in the same frequency.I wasn't aware of that when I bought it.Any negatives? Not really. It's a good feature nice feature.I also like that you can set it so that it only scans for HD stations.

Bluetooth -Now I was really looking forward to this for two reasons. One was obvious.I wanted to link my phone up to the head unit (HU) to make and receive calls. As far as this is concerned, it worked great.pairing was a cinch with my VZW Treo 700P.The second reason was that this unit is able to handle A2DP Bluetooth Stereo. It worked great.I was able to stream Bluetooth audio from my phone and also from my bluetooth enabled MP3 player.I can use either the device itself or the HU to control the playback.Very sweet.Any negatives here?Yeah, kind of.The BT features does not allow you to import your phonebook, so you either start the call on your phone or dial the number on the HU.Dialing on the HU is interesting, but not smart. You use the radio preset buttons as well as several other buttons on the HU.They're too small and it's too distracting. This is a minor problem honestly as I have my phone mounted on a ProClip on the AC vent. But others might have an issue here. Also, ending a call requires you to hold down the mute button on the HU for three seconds. This is dumb. You should be able to disconnect by pressing the phone icon on the BT module. But no.The BT receiver button is for accepting a call, not ending one.Again, not a deal breaker, but disappointing.

Available USB port - Genius.I can use this to charge any device that uses a USB charging cable.Including my work Blackberry.I can use a USB flash memory card and it works great.Negatives here?Yes.Navigating through music folders is a chore. Not fun at all.I don't normally use this option as I simply control my MP3 player through either the BT or through the aux port, but again, it's worth mentioning.

Aux port - Again, genius.Simple feature that should be on all radios.Does exactly what it's supposed to.You just purchase a simple 3.5mm cable from Radio Shack or anywhere else and you can plug in any high-tech or low-tech audio feature you want.No negatives. It just works great.

Overall device... Nice. But there are some usability issues. The default sound is kind of weak in my opinion.I don't listen to things too loud, but it was still softer than I preferred. Setting "Loudness" to "ON" in the settings fixed that, but almost too much.Again, it's all about preferences. It's subjective.I also wish the radio presets had better shapes. They can be hard to hit and they toggle from the sides.1 and 2 share the same button, so you have to hit the edges and not the center. It's annoying. As others have said, you can't dim the display, but this never bothers me.

One last thing is car specific but still an issue. My car has controls on the steering wheel that I use to control volume, switch between radio bands, CD and cassette as well as switch between radio presets (or tracks).I tried to keep as much of this functionality intact by separately purchasing a IR steering wheel control kit from PAC.It worked, but not well.Volume works fine, but the radio doesn't have a remote setting for switching between presets, so you're forced to use the HU (or the remote control).Other than that, you're just scanning between frequencies. That's annoying.Switching bands is just that, radio only.If I want to switch between inputs, I have to use the HU or the remote. Some might think these are minor issue, but I use my steering wheel controls constantly. This became my biggest disappointment by far.

All in all, a very good deal for the dollar. No doubt. The device has issues. They all do, but as long as you go into the purchase knowing the compromises up front, I think you'll be very impressed.I am.

Great Sound
The XHD6425 features an on-board processor that will improve the sound of your compressed MP3/WMA files. Get quick access to electronic volume, bass, treble, balance, and fader controls, or select one of the 5 preset EQ curves--pop, jazz, classic, beat, and rock. A loudness feature is included for low-level listening with punch, and a mute function for quick sound-off.
Input and Output
Two pairs of preamp outputs are provided for system expansion if you want to add to the XHD6425's 17 Watts RMS (50W peak).
A 3.5mm front panel input is also included for use with iPods, MP3 players, or other external audio devices.

Boss BV9990 7-Inch In-Dash Motorized Widescreen Touchscreen TFT Monitor/DVD/MP3/CD Combo Receiver Review

Boss BV9990 7 inch In-Dash Motorized Widescreen Touchscreen TFT Monitor/DVD/MP3/CD Combo Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased it last month, and had installed immediately. I have not upgraded my factory speakers, but the increase in sound quality was immediately noticible. The touch screen has the appropriate sensativity in my opinion. The quality of the dvd picture is EXCELLENT. Looks no different than a smaller version of my 50 inch Samsung Plasma. Tom Tom plugs easily into the port and displays perfectly. Has a hook up for a rear back up camera, that can be activated by a simple touch of the screen. Cd player works excellently. Plays multimedia, so hook up any device you can think of, and dj from the passenger seat. Those who are intending to purchase must realize the the screen flips upward. Be cautious of what it may block in the process. If you have vents above your deck area, I would advise you to choose another radio. I bought it for a 2001 Dodge Conversion Van, and the only issue I have is the gearshift, which I must pull toward myself, to allow the screen to go up without being blocked. DVD player has a block that does not allow it to play while car is in gear, but I hear that there is a way around it (wink wink), but try not to allow it to distract the driver. I also purchased a 20 inch Fold down Pyle TV, which is connected to my radio, so I can show the dvd's there, and fold down the screen in the front so the driver is not disturbed. I hope this review is helpful to you all, and I wish you all a happy, fruitful, and blessed New Year. Godspeed.

I was suprised with the size of this thing when it arrived
Its front is the same size a regular car stereo, so big to fit anywere
Thus, it don't autoconect at all
Even the recording function only records in memory, so if you want to move the recording to computer, you'll have to play on it's own speakers and record with an external recording device
The battery also dont last more than few minutes by itself, probably it's an old stock, with deffective parts
This goes to garbage, and the good thing is it didn't cost much
